<p>Johan is arrested and Elise seeks the truth of what happened to her father with the help of Othilie, a prostitute. At the police station, she is informed that Johan is under suspicion for theft and not murder, as she first feared.</p><br/><p>When Elise arrives home from the factory one evening, she is forced to stand idle as her mother is taken away. There has been an opening at the sanatorium.
