The cap as we know it today has roots in 19th-century England, where it first appeared as part of school uniforms and sportswear, evolving from the flat caps worn in working-class communities. The modern baseball cap, however, traces its origins to the United States—specifically the New York Knickerbockers, who in 1849 introduced a brimmed cap as part of their uniform. By the mid-20th century, the cap had become a staple of sports culture. From the 1940s and 50s, the now-iconic six-panel construction with a structured brim and adjustable back became standard, quickly transitioning into leisurewear, workwear, and eventually streetwear. SWIMS reimagines this classic with a technical edge. Crafted in a water-repellent and breathable fabric—the same used in select outerwear styles—the cap is designed to handle changing conditions with ease. Fully taped seams and an inner lining in elegant striped fabric bring together function and refinement. Constructed with a classic five-panel design, it features a seamless front panel and a moderately structured crown.
