<p> </p><p> </p><p>Most books about Abraham Lincoln are non-fiction. Those that are fiction only explored certain quirks about Lincoln, but none explored in-depth the change of Lincoln''s thought patterns as he overcame his melancholy and doubts about his self-worth. My inspiration comes from knowing people who have taken the time to develop lives of significance through strong moral values being expressed to others as they live out their lives. Those on the receiving end are often changed by those people in very positive ways. John Davies becomes one of those mentors in Lincoln''s life. Abe''s and John''s careers take off in different directions and they barely see each other for almost twenty years, but they do correspond, and both John and Abe pour out their hearts to each other. Even though John was not one of Lincoln''s closest friends, he was somewhat of a mentor to the penniless, uneducated Lincoln whom he met in 1831. My story continues this respectful rel
