Featured on our Miroku journal cover is the Miroku Bosatsu Hanka Shiyui statue, a National Treasure at Kyoto¿s Koryu-ji Temple, built in 603 AD. This sculpture depicts Maitreya, the Buddha ¿yet to come,¿ sitting in stillness as the guardian of the Teachings of the Buddha. As a metaphor for Compassion, Maitreya teaches that each of us possesses the potential to be Enlightened.
